How representative industrial US$/kWh rates are derived from regional workbooks and source-quality flags.
The dashboard reports a representative industrial / business electricity tariff in US$/kWh for each African country covered. Values are derived from ACEP’s regional Excel workbooks of utility schedules, converted to US dollars where needed.
Where a country sheet yields parseable industrial energy charges, the dashboard uses the median of matching lines (preferring standard / flat periods over peak-only charges). When a sheet cannot yield a usable industrial US$/kWh figure, ACEP’s summary workbook provides a fallback rate, flagged in source notes.
Each country carries a source-quality flag — official, government, secondary_authoritative, secondary_caution, or no_data — so users can judge confidence when comparing peers or filtering the map.
Country coverage is incomplete. The map and tools support peer comparison within the current filter set — not a continental league table. Min/max figures describe the filtered view only.
Schedules change, FX assumptions vary, and demand or fixed charges are not always embedded in the representative US$/kWh. Treat the dashboard as a comparative research tool and verify against primary regulator publications before formal citation.
